Since the air space open up after covid pandemic , many of us cannot wait to rush out of Singapore to catch a breather . There also many foreigners in Singapore who badly need a ticket back to their hometown to visit their family.
So no so surprising , air tickets are soring to the sky as well.
I heard that a family of 4 travelling to China cost them SGD$8000 for air ticket alone. Ouch !!
I did my own research and realize there could be ways to try to save on the same air tickets you have been searching for .
1. Use sites like Google Flights, Skyscanner and more to find the cheapest dates to fly
Using search engines are like a norm these days . However, there are some search engines pricing certain air route higher than the rest. No harm using a few search engines at one go to try for get the best deals.
2. Use VPN or incognito
I never try this before but I believe due to search engines store our searches, when we try to search again for the same flight prices , they might just use their algorithm to increase the price due to our needs.
3. Consider flying from a different, nearby airport
If the flight is a short one , no harm trying to fly to a nearby airport to save on the airport tax that big airport could impose. For example , flight flying into bangkok Don Muang airport pays lower tax than flight going into suvarnabhumi airport
4. Always book flights at least four months (or earlier) before
Tried and tested , usually flight booked 4 more earlier are way cheaper than last min booking.
5. Travel on a Thursday
Weekend flight starting from friday is always more expensive. I realise wednesday flight could be better priced too.
